Border Patrol agents seize close to 200 pounds of marijuana

LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - Border Patrol agents of the Laredo Sector seized nearly 200 pounds of marijuana at the I-35 checkpoint.

According to Border Patrol, the incident happened on July 9th when agents referred a white Dodge Caravan to secondary inspection.

When agents searched the vehicle, they found two hidden compartments underneath the rear seat.

Inside the compartment, Border Patrol agents discovered eight bundles of marijuana.

The marijuana weighed 159 pounds and had an estimated street value of $127,950.

Records show that the passenger was a Mexican National with an outstanding warrant of deportation issued by ICE agents.

The driver, a United States Citizen was arrested along with the passenger.

The vehicle was seized by Border Patrol and the case was turned over to Homeland Security.
