Students participate in Special Olympics Area 21 Bowling Competition

LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) - A group of local kids were hoping to bowl a few strikes and maybe even win a medal as part of a big bowling competition.

Close to 250 elementary students are taking part in the Special Olympic area 21 Bowling Competition.

The athletes range from 8 to 11 years old and represent various school districts including LISD, UISD and Hebbronville.

The athletes participated in three divisions, singles bowling, ramp bowling and assisted ramp bowling.

The students trained for eight weeks for the tournament.

Awards were presented at the end of the competition.
