Over one million dollars worth of crystal meth seized by CBP

LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) - The U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seize more than 1.5 million dollars’ worth of meth at a Laredo port of entry during two separate incidents.

The first seizure happened on Tuesday, October 10th at the Lincoln Juarez Bridge, when a CBP officer referred a 2012 Dodge Durango to secondary inspection.

The vehicle was driven by a 27-year-old woman from Bradenton Florida.
A canine and an officer inspected the vehicle and found 29 packages containing 34 pounds of alleged crystal meth.

The second seizure happened on Sunday, October 8th at the same bridge when a CBP officer referred a 2014 Chevrolet Cruz to secondary inspection. The vehicle was driven by a 24-year-old from Mexico City. A canine and officer inspected the vehicle and found 14 packages contain 45 pounds of alleged crystal meth.

Both seizure combined have an estimated street value of $1,591,721.

CBP officers seized the narcotics and the vehicle and the drivers were turned over to Homeland Security.
