Gateway Community Health Center to hold back to school health fair

LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - This weekend marks the end of summer vacation for most of the kids in south Texas, which means many parents will be rushing around town trying to make sure they have everything ready.

If you have not had a chance to get your child’s immunizations, a local health center is putting on a free health fair to help you and your family get ready for the school year.

The Gateway Community Health Center will be hosting its annual health fair this weekend.

The event is part of National Health Center Week where several health centers across the nation put on these types of events for community residents who might not be able to see a doctor.

Gateway will be giving out free backpacks with school supplies to the kiddos while supplies last.

The center will provide, immunization, blood pressure checks, glucose checks as well as other health screenings.

Health officials will be on hand to talk about some of the different illnesses that are seen around town and what type of health conditions to be aware of.

The event will take place on Saturday August 11th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Gateway Community Health Center on Pappas Street.
