LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) - Mass casualty events have become more common in our society, but would you know what to do if you were ever in a situation?
This past weekend, the small south Texas town of Sutherland Springs was the latest community to be hit with such a tragedy.
Twenty six people were murdered and dozens more were wounded during Sunday’s church services.
Over the past five years, mass casualty events have increased.
Just last year, 477 shootings occurred in the U.S. and so far this year there have been 378.
Police say there are things you can do to stay safe.
The FBI has a section on their website dedicated to active shooter resources.
The best advice they have is to first run and get out.
If you cannot do that, they say to hide and if you can’t do that, then fight.
