LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - Close to 900 people went to face a judge on Wednesday after receiving citations as part of the Click It or Ticket Campaign.
Courtrooms for both Justice of the Peace Hector and Oscar Liendo were packed with drivers.
Deputies from Constable Rudy Rodriguez’s office gave close to 2,000 citations during the campaign.
A little over a thousand citations were for children not properly restrained in a car or booster seat.
Captain Raymundo Martinez Jr says that some families were issued three or four citations because they look at each children that are not buckled up correctly.
If an adult is not wearing his or her seatbelt, the citation could cost $157
Those who received citations signed an agreement that they will not break the law again, especially concerning children.
