LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - As National Police Week continues, the City of Laredo continues to pay tribute those men and women who have given their lives in the line of duty.
Many law enforcement agencies gathered at Jarvis Plaza on Tuesday for a special memorial service for fallen officers from multiple agencies across the city.
The memorial is held every year and honors not just those who gave their all, but their families and colleagues as well, giving active officers a chance to reflect on their fallen brothers.
Jason Owens with the Laredo Sector Border Patrol says, “They’re part of our legacy. They are part of our history and they are part of the men and women who have fought to keep this community, preserve this community and keep it safe since its beginning. So we never want to forget the sacrifices that they have made and the sacrifices that are going to be made in the future by those that are following in their footsteps.”
While the week is called National Police Week, it serves to honor all of those who wear a uniform and the event only strengthens the bond between those who serve and have sacrificed for their city.
