LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) - A Laredo middle school student is hoping to inspire other kids with his love of reading.
JJ Ramos has been an avid reader since an early age and he knows how important reading is for his future.
After attending a youth leadership conference in Washington DC, the seventh grader went to his mom with an idea.
JJ set out to start an organization dedicated to providing books to people who need them.
Ramos passed out flyers at United Day and other kids to spread the word about the organization, "Reading is Life".
The kids spent a lot of their time collecting book donations and sorting them out by reading level.
For the kids in the organization, it's not only about passing out books, but about reading with others and sharing an experience.
The group started in July but it is already growing quickly, mostly made up of readers who want to share their passion with others.
If you would like to donate some books to the cause or know of an organization that needs books, you can contact the 'Reading is Life' organization on their Facebook page.
