Update: Man shot in head in stable yet critical condition

LAREDO, TEXAS The alleged suspect who shot a man in the head on Sunday morning is still at large.

According to police, the victim, 32-year-old Alfonso Alvarado is still in critical yet stable condition at a San Antonio hospital.

Officials have confirmed that the incident took place around 11:30 Sunday morning at the intersection of the 3200 block of Jaime Zapata Memorial Highway and South Ejido Road.

After being shot in the left eye, Alvarado drove himself to his girlfriend’s house on the 1600 block of Jacaman. Then, his girlfriend drove him to LMC and was later transported to a San Antonio hospital.

After looking at surveillance video, police were able to identify the suspect’s vehicle.

The vehicle is being described as a black Dodge Avenger 2008 or 2009 model. The driver at the time was a male with no one else in the car.
Police are still investigating the incident.

A 32-year-old man is in stable yet critical condition tonight after being shot.

Just before noon today, police received a call that a patient was being treated for a gunshot wound at LMC.

Police say the victim, Alonso Alvarado was shot in his left eye.

After the shooting Alvarado drove himself to his girl friends' house on 1600 block of Jacaman road, she then took him to the hospital- -he was later flown out to San Antonio hospital.

Alvarado told police that a driver pulled up to the side of his gray Mitsubishi SUV when the shooting happened.

The car was left with several bullet holes and blood inside was taken to LPD for further investigation.

Where the shooting took place is yet to be determined but is believed to have taken place in South Laredo. Police are still looking for the suspect.
