UPDATE: Rio Bravo Police Searching for Suspected Car Thieves

RIO BRAVO, TEXAS (KGNS) - Rio Bravo Police Chief Rene Cervantes says the two men who stole a vehicle at gunpoint on Tuesday used public transportation to get out of the city.

Surveillance video is going to be checked out by authorities to see if the victim can identify the two men.

Laredo Sector Border Patrol and the Webb County Sheriff's Department assisted the Rio Bravo Police Department in finding the suspects.

Cervantes says they were out with the agencies scouting the area until early Wednesday morning.

Both men are considered to be armed and dangerous.

A manhunt is underway in Rio Bravo, as numerous law enforcement agencies search for a man wanted for stealing a vehicle at gunpoint.

Police say he is armed and considered very dangerous.

It all began Tuesday morning, when the armed man allegedly stole a car.

Residents in the area believe the suspect could be an illegal immigrant. However, this information has not been confirmed by authorities.

Rio Bravo police, along with Border Patrol, have been out in the area all day looking for the suspect.

The situation even forced Salvador Garcia Middle School to be locked down for an hour while the manhunt went on.

Authorities are looking for a man with a white shirt, blue jeans and visible tattoos in his arms and face.

"The victim is okay," says Rio Bravo Police Chief Rene Cervantes. "Of course he's scared to death, but he's fine. And right now they took his vehicle to his place. The subject's, their face is of full of tattoos, and they have tear drops next to their eyes. And you know what that means, that they killed before."

Police are still currently searching for the suspect.
