LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - A local attorney finds himself on the wrong side of the law, accused of transported undocumented immigrants.

Armando Treviño was arrested last week accused of picking up a pair of undocumented immigrants near Cotulla.

According to official statements, an off-duty Border Patrol agent reportedly saw two men get into the vehicle matching the description of one being driven by Treviño on U.S. 83 Monday afternoon.

A short time later, agents from the Cotulla Sector stopped the vehicle that matched the description.

Border Patrol agents determined that the two men in Treviño’s car were undocumented and were arrested.

The undocumented immigrants said they had been abandoned by their smuggler and that they had been offered a ride by Treviño.

Treviño is scheduled for a court hearing later this month.

He is being represented by his son who is a practicing attorney in San Antonio.
