Mexican National arrested after leading BP agents on a high speed chase

EDINBURG, TX (KGNS) - A Mexican National is arrested by Border Patrol after he fled the checkpoint as he was being referred to secondary inspection.

According to Border Patrol, the incident happened on July 9th at the Falfurrias Checkpoint when agents referred the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado to secondary inspection.

When agents instructed the driver to park, the man drove off, leading agents on a high speed chase.

The driver eventually stopped near Hebbronville and all of the occupants fled from the vehicle.

With help of agents from the Hebbronville Station and DPS Troopers, they were able to arrest the driver and one other occupant.
The driver was determined to be a 32-year-old Mexican National who was living in the U.S. illegally.

The passenger was also a Mexican National who was being smuggled into the U.S. illegally.

The driver is facing multiple charges and both subjects will be processed accordingly.
