Vice President Mike Pence speaks at Floresville prayer vigil

(NBC) - Vice President Mike Pence left the people in Sutherland Springs, Texas with words of prayer and encouragement on Wednesday night.

The VP spoke at a prayer vigil held to remember those who were killed in church during mid-morning service.

Police say 26-year-old Devin Patrick Kelley opened fire in the First Baptist Church, killing 26 people.

Pence and the second lady met with many of the 20 others who were wounded.

Pence spoke to a crowd at the football stadium of Floresville High School.
Many people turned out to see Pence speak and take comfort in his words.
