(NBC) - Netflix suspends production of the show “House of Cards” following an allegation of sexual misconduct with a teenage boy against actor Kevin Spacey.
Netflix says it needs to halt production to review the situation.
On Monday the company announced that the sixth season would be its last.
Actor Anthony Rapp alleges more than 30 years ago a drunken Spacey climbed on top of him in a bed when Rapp was 14 and Spacey was 26, according to an interview Rapp did with Buzzfeed.
Spacey took to Twitter, saying he’s horrified to hear Rapp’s story and does not remember the encounter.
The actor went on to say, “If I did behave as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior”.
Netflix released a statement saying “MRC and Netflix have decided to suspend production on House of Cards season six until further notice to give us time to review the situation and to address any concerns of our cast and crew”.
