One dead after charter bus plunges into Alabama ravine

(CNN) - One person is dead and several other are injured are after a charter bus crashed near the Alabama-Florida border on Tuesday morning.

Authorities say the bus was carrying high school band students back to the Houston area, when it plunged into a deep ravine off Interstate 10.

Video of the crash shows the bus’ front axle separated from the vehicle and doors to the luggage compartments ripped off.

The roof of the bus was also damaged in the crash.

Officials say one person died at the scene.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office says there is one critical injury and five are serious.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.
