(NBC) - Pet owners who fled Puerto Rico due to Hurricane Maria without their furry little friends were reunited this weekend.
A total of 28 pets arrived by plane on Saturday.
For many pet owners, the cost of getting their pets off the island was too expensive.
The American Humane Society, Wings of Rescue and the Human Society of Broward County stepped in and took in the pets.
For those far from home, having their four legged friends back is a relief.
This was the organization’s first doggy delivery since the category five hurricane.
Another plane will arrive on Monday.
