LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) - Those wanting the plastic bag ban ordinance to stay will have a chance to fight it out in court.
Last August, the San Antonio Court of Appeals came down with a ruling that Laredo’s ban on single-use bags is unlawful.
It claims that the ban violates a Texas statute regulating solid waste disposal.
However, on Friday, the Texas Supreme Court granted the petition to review the case once again.
Both parties will be granted 20 minutes to argue on the pros and cons of the plastic bag ban ordinance.
The Rio Grande International Study Center, who has worked hard for the ordinance welcomes the hearing.
The hearing is set for 8:30 am on January 11th, 2018 at the Texas Supreme Court in Austin.
