LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) - Twenty-four-year old Lauro Vidaurri who was an umpire for the Pony League community passed away earlier this month.
As members of the league are continuing to heal from his sudden passing, some are opening up on how they will remember the young man.
For the past five years, Lauro Vidaurri served as an umpire for the Pony League. Those who knew Lauro say that every time he took the field, he always showed his love for the game.
Lauro’s sudden passing is something that took everyone by surprise, especially those who looked up to him.
Even though being an umpire can be challenging, Lauro always wanted to be better and help others.
The league is still trying to move on, but they know Lauro’s spirit will live on.
The league is also making plans to hold a tournament in Vidaurri’s honor.
Members of the league say Lauro was found unresponsive at his home.
A plate sale will take place on Saturday from 11 in the morning until three in the afternoon at the Community Field located at 400 Saint James. All proceeds will be going to Vidaurri’s family.
