LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) - Three elementary schools in the Laredo area received failing grades from a Texas research organization dedicated to helping the quality of education in the state.
The organization, Children at Risk says Daiches, Kawas and Dovalina Elementary are under performing.
All of United and LISD elementary schools are named in the report.
The report scores the schools with grades from A to an F on student achievement, how well the school is performing and growth.
For United ISD, eight schools received a D and four earned a C. For LISD, three schools received an F and 11 earned a D and five received a C.
LISD’s interim superintendent says they disagree with the rating system.
Ramirez says LISD is committed to providing great education for its students and recognizes like most districts across the state that they have struggles and they are working to correct them.
Coming up tonight on KGNS News at Ten, we sit down with UISD officials to learn their thoughts on the report.
