Texas Tech shooter had run-in with the law a day before

(NBC) - Authorities say the suspect charged in Monday’s deadly Texas Tech shooting had contact with police a day before the murder.

Lubbock Police Chief, Greg Stevens says earlier that day, officers stopped Daniel’s vehicle to search for a possible stolen gun.

However, according to the chief, officers did not get consent to search the vehicle and Daniels was let go.

It is also not clear exactly if the stolen gun was the same one he used to allegedly kill Officer East.

However, a grand jury did indict Daniels on Wednesday for possession of a stolen firearm.
