LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) - The Washington’s Birthday Celebration Association has announced the selection of the four Abrazo Children for the 121st celebration.
Representing the United States are Sofia Gonzalez and Liam Anderson Haynes.
Representing Mexico are Yvette Garcia Bazan and Tomas Andres Villegas Tomko.
The act of the four children meeting in the middle of an international bridge and exchanging a heartfelt Abrazo symbolizes, friendship, goodwill, kindness and a mutual appreciation between the two countries.
After the children exchange the symbolic hugs, the U.S. and Mexican dignitaries also meet their counterparts in the middle of the bridge and share the same gesture.
The historic international bridge ceremony will take place on Saturday, February 17th at 7:30 in the morning at the Lincoln Juarez Bridge.
