LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) - Cleaning up areas in Laredo needing the most help is all a part of a new initiative put together by the Texas A&M International University and the City of Laredo.
This Saturday, TAMIU students and city employees will be cleaning up the Colonia of Guadalupe. Approximately 400 students are expected to take part.
Keep Laredo Beautiful Executive Director Lynne Nava says this community project was created to improve the lives of those who would benefit the most: "The event is intended to help improve the community by repainting curbs, repainting the basketball court, installing a community garden so they can learn to grow their own vegetables, and become healthier by growing their own vegetables."
This cleanup project will become an annual event.
