LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) - The Trump administration is announcing that it will move forward with plans to renegotiate NAFTA.

Congressman Cuellar says he is glad that President Trump is looking into updating it rather than dismantling it.
The Trump administration sent out a notice to Congress on Thursday stating that it plans to renegotiate NAFTA.
Cuellar says this is a great opportunity to bring the deal into the 21st century and says if the Trump administration is sincere, he is ready to roll up his sleeves and work with them.
Cuellar says NAFTA has brought over a million jobs to the state and has been a successful for not only Texas but for the entire country.
The brief notice sent out to Congress says the Trump administrated aimed to support economic growth and better paying jobs, but it did not mention how.
The Mexican President and Canada’s prime minister have both signaled publicly that they welcome the opportunity to renegotiate.
