LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) - After a week full of events, Friday marks the end of National Police Week.
The week-long event is dedicated to show support for law enforcement agents not only in Laredo, but around the country.
A luncheon was held at both police stations - treating not only officers, but administrators working for the department.
Acting Police Chief Gabriel E. Martinez says the public has reached out and showed their support for them, as well.
"We've had a great week," Martinez said. "The most important event was Monday, the Police Officer Memorial at Jarvis Plaza. Of course, our awards, our expo with the children. So it's been a great week, and I'm proud to be part of it. I truly appreciate the community, and we've got a lot of well wishes."
Chief Martinez says the public has also sent sweet reminders and treats to the officers throughout the week.
