LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) - Despite a company announcing future plans to open a refinery in South Texas, the state is confirming there are no permits recorded as of yet.
In December, we spoke with county officials in the counties of Duval and Jim Hogg. They anticipate the creation of an oil refinery near Hebbronville could create 1,500 temporary jobs and 500 permanent ones.
Although they said the land had been purchased, the company still needs to submit a permit to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality before construction ever begins.
According to TCEQ, there is no record of the company submitting a permit application to this date.
