New rehab program helping former female drug users bounce back

LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - Battling drug addiction could be a life-long challenge even after one stops using.

A local organization is looking to help women who have had a history of drug abuse get back on their feet after spending time in jail.

The SCAN organization is putting together a project that helps them find a job and in some cases a place to live.

Program director Joyce Roque says, "We do serve different populations. We’ve served clients who maybe were referred through state or federal probation as well, so we do provide them with a service to assist them and lead them to services so that they can continue with their lives."

The new program is set to launch October first.
