LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - A local agency is raising awareness about the needs for adults in Webb County.

Laredo Adult Protective Services made a special presentation at the Rotary Club.

They say the three most common forms of abuse they deal with involve neglect, abuse, and exploitation.

"We see about a thousand cases of abuse, neglect, or exploitation here in the county per year," said APS supervisor Cynthia Anguiano-Catchings.

Anguiano- Catchings says that adult abuse is very common in our area. She also spoke on where to report abuse, and what specifically the agency can assist with.

"In South Texas, we do see more abuse, maybe pertaining to family members to the adult," said Anguiano-Catchings. "We do see some exploitation, however the main thing is the verbal abuse and the physical abuse."

To report adult abuse of any kind, dial 211 on your phone, or visit the APS office located at 1500 N Arkansas Ave.
