LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) -- With school just around the corner the Laredo health department wants to remind parents to have their children vaccinated.
What grade your child is going into will determine what vaccinations they may need.
The health department says immunizations remain the safest and best prevention against serious diseases like polio and measles.
All students from daycare to college are required to be vaccinated before entering class.
Associate Director Dr. Waldo Lopez says it's important to be vaccinated especially if your behind on your shots.
"The nurse will review your records to make sure you're up to date and if your missing a shot they'll do a caught up schedule and get you caught up to normal status."
The health department will be open Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM and extended hours on Thursday from 5 PM to 7 PM.
Immunizations are $10 dollars.
