Laredo, TX -- A new U.S. State Department order will allow trucks carrying hazardous materials to cross the border at the World Trade Bridge.
For a long time the Columbia-Solidarity Bridge in far north Laredo was where Hazmat trucks were allowed to cross.
Four years ago, the City of Laredo began asking to add the World Trade Bridge.
Laredo City Manager Carlos Villarreal says it will keep traffic moving -- both in and out of Mexico.
He says the U.S. State Department is asking the city to start building a Hazmat emergency response facility by the bridge.
