JERUSALEM, ISRAEL (NBC) - The divide between Israeli and Palestinian negotiations may be too wide to bridge before a 72-hour ceasefire ends at midnight in the war-ravaged region.

Wednesday afternoon at an event in Jerusalem, Israel's Strategic Affairs Minister, Yuval Steinitz, confirmed there are "huge gaps" between both sides as Egyptian negotiators attempt to mediate peace in Cairo.

After three days of talks, a permanent ceasefire seems unlikely.

Steinitz says they may simply just be out of time.
