LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) -- Some Laredoans haven't traveled to Nuevo Laredo for quite some time for fear of violence but Mexico's government is hoping to change that.
Throughout all of Tamaulipas, the government will now be issuing background checks and examining city traffic cops.
The hopes are to eliminate corruption.
The exams will take place in Ciudad Victoria and are headed by the department of public security.
40 cops have already been issued the tests.
Its all part of Mexico's effort to better secure what they've called one of the most dangerous states in the country.
