(NBC) - Wireless carrier T-Mobile is ditching its static coverage map for one that uses real-time data.
T-Mobile unveiled its "next-gen network map" Monday.
The map will be updated every two weeks from data collected from customers and third party sources like Speedtest.net and Inrix.
The data gives customers a chance to determine if T-Mobile's coverage is sufficient in a particular area.
T-Mobile hopes the new map will fight the perception that its network lags behind other carriers when it comes to coverage.
The new map will also show areas where T-Mobile is not available.
Company execs say that's OK, because they want transparency.
