TAMIU Cheerleader Squad places first in NCA Collegiate event

In only their second national competition, the members of the Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) Cheerleading Squad placed first in their Division at the NCA College National Championship finals, All Girl Intermediate II Friday in Daytona Beach, FL.

The 20-member TAMIU squad bested teams from Maryland, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, scoring 84.90 after two days of competition.

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (TAMIU News) - In only their second national competition, the members of the Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) Cheerleading Squad placed first in their Division at the NCA College National Championship finals, All Girl Intermediate II Friday in Daytona Beach, FL.

The 20-member TAMIU squad bested teams from Maryland, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, scoring 84.90 after two days of competition.

Last year, TAMIU placed second to the University of Central Oklahoma, Edmond.

The TAMIU Squad dedicated their performances and championship win to Maria Isabel Rodriguez, a Squad member who recently passed away in a tragic automobile accident.

The squad returns to Laredo later this weekend.
