In 2015, KGNS TV and our family of stations: NBC-KGNS, ABC- NGNS, TELEMUNDO- OGNS, CBS-KYLX, CW-LYLX hosted the 1st Annual Super Shredder campaign in an effort to educate and advocate Laredo and surrounding communities about protecting consumer privacy. The campaign culminated with a Shredder Day drive which was held on a Wednesday and resulted in the shredding of over 20,000 pounds of documents. The drive traffic was non-stop and the on air campaigns resulted in said call to action. Shredding has become a matter of privacy protection and safety.
This year we will host the 2nd Annual Super Shredder Day with an additional community benefit. This year we will shred for privacy and to benefit the South Texas Food Bank. The Super Shredder -Shred for Hunger will occur on Saturday, July 16, from 8a to 2p. Citizens will be encouraged to drive thru with their documents and can shred up to 50 pounds of personal documents at no charge in exchange for a free- will donation to the South Texas Food Bank.
In addition to the shredding service, there will be children's activities including the City of Laredo Fire Department Fire Safety House for those who which to drop by.
