Bacon prices on the rise

A virus never before seen in the United States is to blame.

You'd better be bringing home the bacon if you want to bring home some bacon, because pork prices are skyrocketing.

(NBC) - You'd better be bringing home the bacon if you want to bring home some bacon, because pork prices are skyrocketing! A mysterious virus from China has swept through 27 states, killing millions of piglets.

Bacon's far from alone with this pork price increase. It includes popular cuts like center pork loin, and in the last month we're told it's really effecting business.

To blame is a virus never before seen in the United States. It has killed millions of piglets in less than a year, mostly in midwestern states, but elsewhere as well.

That's impacted the supply, which has therefore increased the price. The question is, is there only so much demand for high priced pork?

The good news is there are no reports of the piglet-killing virus infecting people or other animals.
