SPRING HILL, TN (NBC) - GM will be producing the next-generation Cadillac SRX at the plant in Spring Hill.

"Spring Hill was chosen for this new engine and for the SRX largely because of the facilities, and stellar track record when it comes to quality and performance," said GM North American Manufacturing Manager Arvin Jones. "This site really knows how to do their business, and they do it well."

GM is also investing $185 million to make small gas engines at the plant, and will be one of six manufacturing locations worldwide producing the new engine.

Governor Bill Haslam congratulated GM on the investment in the future of the Spring Hill plant.

Last month, the state sent out a news release about a company's expansion to make parts for two new lines at Spring Hill.

The plant currently employs about 1,600 people.
