The ALS Association reports they have received 94.3 million dollars over the past month, mostly due to the "Ice Bucket Challenge".

(NBC) - Countless Americans - including high profile celebrities - have accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge this summer.

And a new report finds it's paying off.

The ALS Association reports it has received $94.3 million in donations over the past month, compared to $2.7 million during the same time period last year.

The donations have come from existing donors, as well as over two million new contributors.

The association has pledged to use these donations wisely to assist patients suffering from ALS, as well as fund research to find treatments and a cure for the disease.
