The number of Americans seeking unemployment benefits slipped 1,000 last week to a seasonally adjusted 298,000.
(NBC) - Applications for unemployment benefits fell slightly last week.
According to the Labor Department, the number of Americans applying for jobless benefits fell by 1,000 to a seasonally adjusted 298,000.
The four-week average, a less volatile measure, dropped to 299,750. That's just 6,000 higher than four weeks ago.
Some analysts believe the low level signals that employers are cutting fewer jobs, and that hiring will remain strong.
