BEIJING, CHINA (NBC) - David Beckham announced a charity fund for youth soccer in China Monday during a visit to Beijing.
The fund is based on a donation he and his wife Victoria made last year.
The Beckhams donated a Jaguar sports car and six soccer jerseys for a charity auction during a visit to China in June of 2013, which raised $415,000.
The foundation and the Beckhams decided to use the donation to form the Youth Soccer Fund.
Last year, Beckham took on the role of Global Ambassador for China's top soccer league, the Chinese Super League, which had been plagued by match-fixing scandals.
