Fiesta Flambeau Parade Grand Marshals Announced

SAN ANTONIO, TX – The Fiesta Flambeau Parade Association announced the Grand Marshals for this year’s Fiesta Flambeau Parade at a press conference held today.

Organizers unveiled the highly guarded secret of the Grand Marshal, the “Most Interesting Man” in the world, portrayed by the debonair and distinguished, Jonathan Goldsmith - the internationally known and recognized brand icon representing Dos Equis Beer. This year’s Honorary Grand Marshal is actually two individuals – Leticia Van de Putte, State Senator and champion for families, education, vets and business, and her husband, Pete Van de Putte, founder and owner of Dixie Flag company, a world-wide, family owned company based in San Antonio.

Press conference attendees expressed excitement of the Grand Marshal’s announcement. A special video message with personal comments from the “Most Interesting Man” was shared with press conference attendees. In his message, he expressed the privilege and honor of being this years’ Parade Grand Marshal and said he looked forward to being in San Antonio.

Honorary Grand Marshals, State Senator Leticia Van de Putte and Pete Van de Putte, also expressed their delight and joy, and stated that they looked forward to being part of the highly attended and beautiful night parade that for decades has been a big part of Fiesta San Antonio.

The Fiesta Flambeau Parade is set to take place on Saturday, April 26, 2014, and will once again be heralded as the largest and most spectacular night parade in the world. The Fiesta Flambeau Parade travels throughout the streets of downtown San Antonio and is held on the last weekend of the Fiesta San Antonio celebration. "Fiesta Flambeau continues to be the premier event of Fiesta and continues to attract and honor internationally known and prominent individuals who delight our parade audience.” stated Terry Acevedo-Carmona, Public Relations Director for the Fiesta Flambeau Association. “Our Grand Marshal, the “Most Interesting Man" and our beloved local couple, Leticia and Pete Van De Putt will elevate the Fiesta Flambeau to new heights, and we thank them for honoring us with their presence.”

This year’s Fiesta Flambeau Parade theme is “A Time to Remember” and is an event organized and managed by volunteers for the enjoyment of San Antonio citizens and visitors. The parade features artistically designed illuminated floats, marching bands, dance groups and Fiesta Royalty to the delight of over 750,000 spectators. In addition to many local area and Texas bands and groups, several out-of-state high school bands will be attending. They include D.C. Everest High School band from Schofield, Wisconsin; Enterprise High School band from Siloam Springs, Arkansas; Hempfield Area High School band from Hempfield, Pennsylvania; and Tuscaloosa County High School from North Point, Alabama. In addition, UTSA will sponsor a new float in addition to the university’s band.
