Boy killed while trying to protect sister

According to relatives, the sister and brother were in the backyard of their home playing near the train tracks, when they were approached.

Richmond Police are still looking for the suspect.

RICHMOND, VA (NBC) - A sad story out of Virginia. A young boy was killed Thursday evening while trying to protect his sister.

Richmond Police are still looking for the suspect.

Friends and family say the little boy was trying to defend his 12 year old sister.

According to relatives, the sister and brother were in the backyard of their home playing near the train tracks, when they were approached.

They say the suspect raped the girl and hit her younger brother in the head with a brick when he tried to defend her.

The girl is in the hospital recovering.

Police were originally looking for a white male, with scraggly facial hair.

Now they say the suspect is a black male teenager.

Police say the suspect allegedly threatened the victim into giving false information about his identity.
