LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) - The City of Laredo Health Department wants to remind the community how important it is to get your pets vaccinated.

Rabies is a deadly disease that kills pets every year.

Laredo has three prominent hosts that carry rabies and by leaving your pet outside they can come in contact with these animals.

Rabies can be found in coyotes, skunks, and bats, all in which can be found here in Laredo.

Health Department Director Hector Gonzalez says knowing whether or not your pet contracts rabies can be difficult because by the time they show symptoms they could of had the disease for quite sometime.

The Health Department hosts vaccine clinics every first and third Wednesday of the month.

Pet vaccinations and registration is usually $22 and as includes micro-chipping.
