LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - Alyssa Rios is excited to shoot her pistol once again. She joined the Laredo Rifle & Pistol Club last year before the county shut down the range.

"It's really exciting. As soon as we heard, just yesterday that they opened back up, well we are here this morning.”

Despite rainy conditions, that didn't stop some people from coming to the range to get their memberships. All former members will have to rejoin. The fee will be $110 for an individual for the remainder of the year. Bobby Adame is the club Treasurer. He said members would see some changes when they come to fire their rifle or pistol.

Members used to be able to get a key to the front gate and be able to come in at anytime that they want. But now that the county has voiced their concerns, range members will only be able to come in during normal business hours. Regular hours have not been finalized, but this week the range was open from eight in the morning until seven at night. Due to safety concerns, some of the ranges may not be operational.

"Some of our ranges are closed. The 500 meter range and the 100 yard range, which both go down range in this direction are closed now."

These ranges have to be closed due to the insufficient berms in the back of it. But Adame says they could soon open the 100-meter range.

The gun range board members and members were happy to finally be operational once again. Right now, the gun range's lease with Webb County is still month-to-month.
