LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) -- Summer is here and while some students may take the time to relax, others will be working.
For Nick Perales, that was three weeks ago. He had applied to six places.
The 20-year-old TAMIU student is now a trained employee at Magic Car Wash.
Juan Sanchez is the owner.
It's an opportunity for Sanchez's business to shine and for Perales to make some money.
After his last day of classes at Alexander High School Thursday, 15-year-old Joel Mendez went looking for a job too.
Like Perales, he got the job.
He'll have to work limited hours because of his age, but he's eager to learn and earn.
If you're looking for that summer money-maker, Perales offers his advice, "Apply really early, don't wait towards the end of school or summer."
Workforce Solutions of South Texas is hosting a job fair exclusively for young people.
Eight employers, from retail to food service, will be at the job fair.
That's takes place next week on Thursday at Embassy Suites from 1 PM to 4 PM.
People ages 16 to 21 are invited to attend.
