LAREDO- The Bethany House got a big surprise today, when a big franchise decided to show up and throw a pizza party!
Little Caesar's showed up with their Love Kitchen. This is a big bus with all of the proper equipment needed to make food and take their menu on the go! Lola Quesada, the owner and operator of Little Caesar's, said she serves the community with this portable kitchen quite often.
"I love Laredo.", said Quesada. "Laredo has been so good to me, and it's just a little something in return for how good Laredo has been to me."
Quesada, along with her team, made fifty pizzas to feed 125 people. This was more than welcome to all of the patrons of the Bethany House, as well as the Bethany Director of Operations, Beatriz Saldana.
"Well, we're really excited about it.", said Saldana. "It's a special treat for us. They come about once a year, so anytime anyone comes in to give something different then what we normally serve, the guests are always excited."
Bethany also had some assisted help thanks to some young volunteers. Twenty-seven youth from the United High School Honors Society were glad to serve the needy. They also baked cookies for everybody in attendance.
"It makes us feel good, you know?", said volunteer Esteban Elizondo. "We're giving back. A lot of us are very fortunate and we're here to just help out how we can."
