LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) -- A new class of Explorers finishes their training with the Webb County Sheriff's Office.
A total of 25 Explorer Academy members graduated, ranging in ages from 12 to 17.
They all went through several weeks of hard work with more than 120 hours of intense training.
During the summer academy, explorers learned things like life skills and law enforcement tactics.
"We graduated after 120 hours in the academy that we went through during the summer," said WCSO Explorer Captain Angel Esparza. "We spent two weeks out at a camp site going through running skills. We learned different things that officers go through as they put their life on the line in the line of duty."
The explorers play an important role not only within the Sheriff's Office but also in our community.
They volunteer thousands of hours annually at a number of different events and functions.
