This Fall semester, the local college is offering new opportunities to learn the art of sound engineering.
Musicians and anyone interested in music production now have the option of taking some new classes at Laredo Community College. They have been created to help students who would like to learn how to produce their own music. Beyond that, they tell us they are offering a variety of courses to address all kinds of interest in the arts.
Matthew Bishop, LCC Performing Arts Dept. Chair, says, "We're offering stage combat in the drama section. We have music technology I and music technology II for those interested in mixing and mastering."
Course Instructor Dr. Matthew Bishops adds, "It's going to be much more hands-on whereas the first class is going to be more theoretical. You don't have to take the first class to take the second, but you have to demonstrate that you have a fair knowledge of it."
The first ten students to register will be receiving a t-shirt. Knowledge of musical instruments is not a requirement for these courses.
If you are interested in registering, the college is currently holding late registration through Friday.
