LAREDO, TX (KGNS) – On Monday, March 31st, Congressman Henry Cuellar joined United Independent School District to announce that a high school student nominated by his office has been accepted to a U.S. Service Academy.
Eduardo Salinas, student at Alexander High School, was nominated by Rep. Cuellar and will attend the U.S. Naval Academy. He is the first Laredo student nominated by Rep. Cuellar to be accepted to any U.S. Service Academy. This is a great honor for Eduardo, his family, and the Laredo community.
Eduardo Salinas is a member of the National Honor Society and a National Hispanic Merit Scholar. With a GPA of 4.22, he is ranked 14th out of 687 students in Alexander’s graduating class.
Eduardo has been recognized by the National Hispanic Institute as a Great Debate Mock Trial All State Lawyer and was one of 10 students to be invited to participate in the Doc Prep program at the Baylor College of Medicine.
In addition to accumulating more than 200 hours in service to the community, Eduardo also found the time to demonstrate his leadership qualities as captain for the Bulldog varsity basketball team.
