LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) - A Laredo business is making it possible for students at one school district to start of the year with new school supplies.

A press conference was held to announce the donation of back packs for students who belong to the United Independent School District.

The backpacks were filled with starter supplies to start off the school year.

"These backpacks are going to be issued to the students who are of low and moderate income families," said UISD Communication Specialist Carmen Rendon. "We have criteria of course, this is just to help them jumpstart to their new school year."

A total of 900 backpacks were donated to students in the district.
