The experience for any women that come through Bethany's doors is about to get significantly better.
LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - Laredo's Bethany House has been looking for better accommodations for women, and those changes are around the corner.
The Women's City Club gave them a grant they will use to add ten new beds for women. They are also making renovations to their Barbara A. Kazen Center to make it look more "female friendly."
"With the opening of the Barbara A. Kazen Center for Hope, it's going to allow us to have some space for female clients that we did not have before," said Bethany House Director of Operations Beatriz Saldana. "We haven't opened it yet just cause we're taking care of some safety issues first, but we're going on the route to get that open."
The Bethany House will also be investing in "welcome kits," filled with hygiene products meant for women. The experience for any women that come through Bethany's doors is about to get significantly better.
"We're gonna be able to provide them with intense care management, we'll have our transportation program, we have laundry facilities, we have restroom and shower facilities, they can use our mail center, they have the soup kitchen, of course, and also provide them clothing," said Saldana.
Any women can come to the Bethany House from 6:00 pm until 6:00 am.
